What is Beyond the Dashers, and who's in charge?
Beyond the Dashers is run by fans of Women's Hockey.  The original BTD site was formed after the Badger Women's Hockey blog that several of us authored shut down, and requests were made in several message boards for a site to host the National Collegiate Commitments postings.  Roughly there are five staff at Beyond the Dashers and several other people that contribute their time.  Everyone that works for BTD does so free of charge.
Why all the changes?
Since were still learning the best way for our site to contribute and help promote Women's Hockey, the site itself has gone through many changes as well.  The process and time dedication needed to produce certain statistical updates are simply a bit more than we are able to do at this time.  When our staff of volunteers increases to the point that we can stay up to date without a single person updating many of the sites pages, we will add several statistical areas back into the site.
What criteria goes into your polls?
The polls at Beyond the Dashers are Fan Polls in the truest sense.  People that request to become voting members for each poll, submit a vote each week during the season.  The fans are really the deciding factor.  Now as with any poll, there is some math involved.  The results of the submissions are added and averaged to generate the final poll.  Ties are broken using the teams record vs. the other teams in the top 10.  If a tie is still present then total Goals Against is used as the next tie-breaker.  If a tie is still present then an additional vote using the teams in question is conducted.

How is commitments data collected?
The data for the Commitments lists is collected in several different fashions.  Primarily we receive commitments by coaches, parents, fans, supporters, and fellow players submitting a player using the form found on the commitments page.  We also collect information that is posted on several message boards and blog's.

How accurate are the commitments postings?
In a perfect world every person that submits commitment information does so only in an accurate fashion.  However we sometimes do receive bogus information which is removed as soon as we are made aware that the commitment is inaccurate.  In addition players sometimes change their minds (especially at the D3 level), and sometimes a commitment needs to be updated.  If you have information you feel would be helpful to us, please let us know.
How do I become a member of the BTD Team?
We would love to have you, check out our Volunteering page to see what areas we are looking to have filled.  Or send us your idea of how you would like to contribute and we will get back to you.
